The Auditor is the chief fiscal officer of the county. This office handle appraisals and assessments of county property and calculate taxes. The auditor issues dog and kennel licenses along with vendors licenses. They monitor the sealing of gas pumps, scales and other measuring devices. For your residence: Need home repairs or a septic system? Call the Development Department at 596-3529. Income eligible residents may qualify for loans or grants to assist with emergency home repairs or even accessing potable water. If we are unable to help you, we will try to refer you to other forms of assistance.
Business assistance: The Vinton County Business Support Center can provide you with the answers you need in starting your business. Where to get a vendor’s license? The county auditor’s office. Do I require a license to open a restaurant? Check with the Vinton County Health Department. Am I really cut out to run a business? Take our business training course. Qualified businesses and individuals may even qualify for low interest loans to start or expand their businesses.

The Vinton County Engineer is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all county roads. This also includes all county bridges. They advise the all township trustees and install culverts for township roads.The Engineer also assigns all new addresses. They check all surveys for state standards and approve all deed and land contract descriptions. The office maintains tax maps and county road maps

Our primary goal is to aid and assist seniors, over 60 years of age, to remain at home independently as long as possible. In doing this we offer the seniors a variety of services. In this we promise to assist you by every means we have available. The services we provide include home delivered meals, Congregate meals, medical transportation, outreach programs, passport assistance, HEAP assistance, transportation for disabled veterans, and an Alzheimer’s Respite Care program. The Visitors’ Center is located in the heart of McArthur near the intersection of St. Rt. 93 and U.S. 50. We are home to the Convention and Visitors’ Bureau and Chamber of Commerce for Vinton County and carry a host of literature about local and area attractions. We also sell some local souvenirs and periodically host displays of art or information pertaining to the area. Office hours are typically 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
